Hello! I am VERY much interested in a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I have always been a dog lover, and have had one most of my life. I last had a Cocker Spaniel and had to have her put to sleep about 10 years ago. I swore I couldn\'t do that anymore but now I need some help. I\'ve recently been diagnosed with \"agressive\" prostate cancer and have undergone 42 radiation treatments and am currently going thru 18 weeks of chemotherapy. The doctors are optimistic that I will recover. Because of this illness It was felt that the best thing I could do was retire from work, which I did at the end of the year. I have MANY bills because of the treatments and money is a concern. I know that these are expensive puppies but I\'m in hope that you can put me in touch with a puppy that is looking for a GOOD home and one that WILL receive special care. I could use a companion now, if nothing else to help me get outside and get some exercise. I can only assure you that I will take very good care of your puppy. Trish Barry recommended you to us. She is a trainer/handler in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are seeking a puppy for our daughter who is 11 years old. We've had some bad luck finding a dog for her. Three years ago my two basenjis passed away. They were brother and sister. Ember was a champion. Firecracker did not finish due to cataracts. I co-owned them with the breeder, Jo Bradshaw, and helped show them. They lived to be 15. My husband and I decided that each of our daughters could choose a puppy of their own. We are not opposed to mixed breeds, but wanted quality of health and temperament. Our older daughter who is now 13 chose a pembroke corgi male who bonded to her instantly and is practically perfect. He has his CDC. Our younger daughter chose a sheltie. She turned out to have high anxiety disorder. After half a dozen training classes and lots of testing, she is finally on a "puppy prozac" regimine that has allowed her to remain part of our family. (Frenzied biting fits nearly caused us to have her put down.) She is officially my husband's dog...he is her favorite. The vet told us we could try another puppy for our younger daughter. We tried a rescue that was given up by a 12 year old girl...everyone thought it would be a perfect solution, but after 10 days he began biting friends and family at random. After speaking to Trish and the rescue folks, we decided to return the dog and start over. Trish wants to help us hand pick a dog. The cavalier is one of her choices for our daughter who wants a snuggly lap dog desiring lots of petting and attention. Based on what I have shared, do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Your listed fees are a little high for us, but after what we have been through, the correct animal is more important than the initial cost. Thank you for your time. I saw two of your puppies in Seaside, FL this wknd and absolutely feel in love with them. found other useful info i hadn\'t tried. but i agree on the non kennel training. i used it backwords... the baby slept with me and used the cage on my bed as a pee pen till we trained fully outside, it was nice having him with me all night and all day and easy to clean. now he only sleeps in it at night when he wants to go to bed or during thunderstorms. we have a blanket covering three sides for privacy and a padded bed for warmth. i am looking for a female companion for him for the future.
